Semco Outdoor has retail spaces like no other stone provider, and we’ve got the know-how to help you get your DIY project done without the need to hire a contractor. Check out how easy it is to get started making your back concrete slab patio into an awesome place to chill and entertain.
Ready, set, video tutorial time!
It’s always best to start with a concrete slab and move move forward from there. Before you get started with this tutorial, check out how you can build your own slab or locate someone to pour it for you.
One of our favorite things about this project is the time it takes. Unlike getting a contractor, you can do this with the help of a friend (or put your kids to work!) in less than a day! If you don’t want to or don’t have the right vehicle for hauling stone, Semco offers Columbus stone delivery anywhere in the metro and up to hundreds of miles around.
In addition to the stone, you’ll need a couple of other items for this project. First, you’ll need polymeric sand for filling the cracks between each stone. Polymeric sand is some really neat stuff, it fills in the cracks between each stone and when wetted turns into a hard but porous binding agent between the pavers, meaning it solidly holds the pavers in place. You can find this at your local hardware store.
You’ll also need a couple of basic tools. A shop broom is the best way to get the polymeric sand into the cracks and off the top of the pavers. Caulk or glue will help keep the pieces in place while you’re building the patio, and a hose to wet the sand when you’re finished.
Seriously, you can build your own patio with minimal investment on a single day of your weekend and be enjoying it the rest. Stop in this weekend and get your Columbus patio rockin’ with Semco Outdoor!
